So simple...

This past week I had one of those revelations that make you think, 'why didn't I think of that years ago?'  For years, YEARS, I've been fighting with taking photos of my items.  I mean literally fighting.  There was an entire process of printing and assembling the items that needed photographing, learning the hard way that sunlight was far superior to artificial light, and then planning a weekend day for it, as I worked all week and need the sun in order to get this done right.  And then there was the weather.  If it was raining, I was out of luck, and if it rained the whole weekend I was out of luck until the following weekend.  And let's not forget about the backgrounds, should I use fabric, colors, patterns?  The positioning of the items, angles of the photos, flash or no flash?  And then one of the biggest tasks, photo editing which often took hours, only to find out that the screen in the window had actually wrecked everything, it was now Sunday night, and I needed to wait until the following Saturday to take the screen out of the window and try it allllll over again (I kid you not, this all happened, all too often).

So after years of this torture, what was my revelation?  Well, a little program (and one of my dearest friends) called Adobe Illustrator and the idea of digital images instead of photos.  Now in some ways digital photos can't compete with showing certain details such as the look of layering, or the three dimensional look of a pocketfold, and certainly not ribbons (I haven't gotten there yet).  But overall I am really excited about the look of the digital images to replace the dark, out of focus, grainy photos that were representing my designs.

I spent a good part of today updating my Etsy shop with digital images of all my current items, and added two new items (Jadyn & Josseline)!  Here they are...

I am going to experiment with backgrounds, but for now I think they far surpass the photos I have been using.  Hope you enjoyed your weekend!  =)
